This is the REAL LIFE story of our Ghostbusters team

In 2004, Mick Nielson's Ghostbusters fan status was reaching it's peak, he had discovered the enourmous fan-base surrounding the franchise and wanted to be a part of it. In this spirit, he contacted two of his close friends, brothers named Mark and Damon Lucas, fellow Ghost-heads, and got them introduced to the fan-base as well. They soon realized that there were in fact no existing franchises of GBI in Florida and set out to change that. They first established themselves in the fan fiction area of Ghostbusters.net, titling their stories "The New Ghostbusters: Tampa District".

This went on for months as they began to assemble their uniforms and equipment, first getting their distinctive gray jumpsuits, then constructing their first proton packs, which were very much sub-par. Things went on this way for quite sometime, stretching on through the new year and into 2005. Over the following time period, Mick wrote many stories and the team often appeared around town, making themselves local celebrities.

As 2005 drew to a close, Tampa District found themselves to be card-carrying members of Ghostbusters International, with a functional website and a vehicle. A run-down Ford Explorer called "Ecto-2". As the fall approached, a new member was brought to the team, another school chum of theirs named Julie Madison, also joining was a client administrator, Rita Wilson. During this time, they attempted to make a Ghostbusters Fan Film, but it fell through.

This incarnation of the team would not last though, for as the new year passed, personal differences developed when Julie and Damon, who had begun dating, ended their relationship AND their tolerance of each other. In short, Damon quit the team and took his brother with him, leaving only Mick and Julie as the members. As insult to injury, the Ecto-2 broke down soon afterwards. The Lucas brothers briefly tried forming their own team called Ghostbusters: Nature Coast, but it was merely a farce to get a reaction from Mick and Julie, which it did, but it only succeeded in making them laughing stocks of the fan community.

As time went on, Mick and Julie didnt think that there was much use for continuing the team and they dissolved it for the most part, still remaining friends. Mick continued to write stories as well.

By the end of that summer though, Mick wasnt able to contain himself any longer and decided to re-start the team once again, enlisting the help of his best friend Jerry Lewis, whom he'd known for years. Julie came back to the team for a short period of time, but due to her new job, she was unable to continue with the team. During this time however, Mick had begun a romantic relationship with Heather Jennings and she expressed interest in joining the team. Thus began the newest roster of Ghostbusters: Tampa Division, as they had renamed themselves. (District sounded dumb by then) They also upgraded their equipment, making it slightly less laughable.

As the trio went on, a new Rita Wilson was brought in, as well as sometimes members Lawrence Hicks and Kurt Summers, who were chalked up as reservists. This was the high point of the team's activities, charity events, Halloween functions and various other events were their main focus, with Fan Fiction taking a bit of a back seat during this time. Mick continued to keep up on the various fan sites and became a moderator on GBI. This is the time period when the first television show episode was shot. Plans for a full Fan Film were also in the works. In addition, the team was re-organized and expanded into Ghostbusters: South Coast, joining forces with the Richmond Virginia and Central Georgia teams.

It wasnt meant to last though...

By the following spring (2007), Mick and Heather's relationship had taken a bad turn and Heather was ejected from the group, but her character was kept in the fan fiction version of the team. Mick, Jerry and Lawrence were the main members of the team, with Kurt popping in every so often to join in. Another episode of the tv show was filmed during this time starring Mick and Jerry, using the footage from the abandoned one as the introduction to the show. This is what brought the team to public view.

As the year went on, things were fairly stable in the team, remaining at its high point of productivity. Fan Fictions were being written, more tv episodes were being planned and the team had several vehicles being referred to as    "Ecto-Cruisers". As before though, it was not meant to last.

During October, Jerry and Heather began secretly seeing each other, keeping it hidden from Mick until November, when he and Jerry's friendship came to an explosive conclusion, ripping the entire team apart as a result. Jerry and Lawrence left the team, leaving only Mick and Rita.

Julie intended to return and help Mick keep it going, but unfortunately, college scheduling did not allow much opportunity for them to do so. Mick decided to once again dissolve the group, but only in live action. Within the fan-community, he had his character transferred to Ghostbusters: West Coast, under Fritz Baugh's leadership and continued to run South Coast under the guise that the character of Jerry Lewis was promoted to leader. In addition, he continued to use Heather Jennings as a character and created a new one named Riley Shamus O'Riley to round out the new team. Kurt Summers was constantly around in the fan fictions as well, with Lawrence popping in once in awhile, but he soon drifted into oblivion as time went on.

By Winter of 2007 Mick, while officially a member of West Coast in the fan fiction community, re-formed the live action team with a friend of his playing Riley Shamus O'Riley and Riley's sister (in real life) playing Heather Jennings' new incarnation. This version of the team continued, also attending random events and becoming local celebrities once again. A new vehicle was commissioned for the team as well, a brand new Nissan Xterra once again named Ecto-2.

This incarnation continued on, upgrading their gear to never-before achieved levels of professionalism (not saying much given their previous gear) and giving them (slight) credibility within the community as prop builders for the first time. More tv episodes are being planned and with the addition of their first demonologist, Nigel Farnsworth, the team is headed to newer and better heights. In the meantime, Mick still continues to write fan fictions, though now just for the West Coast team and in the prop-based team, he continues to lead South Coast.

Unfortunately, once again it was not meant to be...

In late 2008, The people filling the roles of Riley and Heather dropped off the face of the Earth and havent spoken to anyone since, Nigel and Mick had a falling out, leaving Mick once again the only member of the team. As a result, Mick decided to give up on trying live-action teams for awhile and focus on other non-Ghostbusters related projects (still keeping up with fan fiction and prop-building though).

After almost a year and a half, Mick had been slowly building up his collection of props, making them better with every upgrade. Even securing himself an actual tan flightsuit and working on an ACCURATE replica Proton Pack. More recently however, a romantic interest who appeared in Mick's life back in mid-2008 requested to be brought in on the team as well. Mick agreed and the full impact of this development remains to be seen at the time of this writing.
